This year we received a Christmas gift that reminded me of how much it means to receive a gift that supports someone or something you believe in.
The gift was a beautiful wood cutting board that was created by Twocor.
Twocor is a non profit in Colorado Springs Colorado that was created to support traumatized youth between the ages of 15 and 19 through a vocation training program. Twocor understands that trauma affects the brain and therefore the life of a child. They created an environment that supports kids on multiple levels to not only heal but become emotional stable, healthy and productive kids and adults. Their program has eight distinct areas of focus for supporting and empowering kids. It is easy to focus on what is wrong with kids and our society today. Here is an organization that is focusing on a solution rather than perpetuating the problem. For this, I am so grateful for the Christmas gift reminder.
I think sometimes it is easy to get online and "find a gift" whether it be Christmas, birthday, new house or just because. Keep in mind that there are organizations such as Twocor that exist beyond the product being sold. By purchasing a gift through them we get to participate in helping someone else on this road we call life.
