Thinking about builders and trying to distinguish one versus another reminds me of recommending restaurants ~ sometimes it just isn't a fit. Today I wanted to introduce a local builder who is celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year and continues to achieve results and set standards that raise the bar for all who are in the business.
Stauffer and Sons is a full-service design and build home builder based in Colorado Springs and serves the Pikes Peak Region and other mountain communities in Colorado. What started as a one-man shop is now a full service deisgn, budgeting and building team that accommodates the demand for high-end, one-of-a-kind projects.
Just what do I mean by raising the bar. Today two particular aspects come to mind. The first is customer interaction. Stauffer and Sons often works with out of state (and country) buyers who are wanting to build a home and yet have heard the horror stories about building, much less remotely. Stauffer solves this question and more with a very interactive website and on-line presence that allows their customers to see at any time all documentation, photos, ideas, plans, costs and schedules for getting their home done. With technology tools such as gotomeeting.com they can have a meeting with customers before and during the building process that will keep them actively engaged and informed with their home. Seeing is believing and customer testimonials are available by sending a quick email. Stauffer and Sons website for more information is http://www.staufferandsons.com.
The second example of raising the bar has more to do with actual building and a fairly new measuring component called "Platinum". In order to achieve LEED certification, buildings are rated in five key areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. The US Green Building Council created the LEED for homes rating system. This system utilizes a stringent, national, third-party certification system for building a green home.
In order to achieve LEED certification, buildings are rated in five key areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. Future blog posts will give updates on some of the accomplishments by Stauffer and Sons in each LEED category:

Water Efficiency and Water Conservation
Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation
Indoor Environmental Quality and Lighting
Conservation of Materials and Resources
Stauffer & Sons is very proud to be building one of only a handful of homes in Colorado that are LEED Platinum certified. The motive was not just environmental. "Being a ‘green' builder has a profound, measurable effect for not only the environment but your bottom line as well. What's good for the environment and good for our customers and neighbors is also good for us, " said Andy Stauffer, President and Founder, Stauffer and Sons.

Kelly,
Thanks so much for your gracious words about my company, Stauffer & Sons Construction. You have demonstrated that the nice things that other people say us are better than anything I could put out there myself. Its been close to four years since we worked with you and Jim on your extensive home renovation and we are so fortunate to continue our business and personal relationship with you. Between the two of us there are many gorgeous Colorado properties to be discovered and built upon. We look forward to many more years of cooperative effort with your company. Thanks again for the kind words. Good luck!
