The fountain is open June to August from 11am to 5pm. Life guards are on duty at these times since the fountain areas can get very slick, and no one can resist sticking their feet into this fountain. It’s a great time for little ones who want to sit in the water and splash before or after a picnic lunch at the park, or before the Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays.
The Julie Penrose Fountain located at America the Beautiful Park in Downtown Colorado Springs is most often referred to people as “The O Fountain.” Designed as an infinity symbol, and titled “Continuum” by David Barber and Bill Burgess, the fountain rotates as a wall of water, symbolizing the life-giving movement of water between the atmosphere and the earth, splashes all who play at the fountain. Around the fountain lies a shallow splash area which has some movement to it like a miniture river.
