If you live in a condo, apartment, townhouse, loft, or other type of building and don’t have access to weekly recycling pickup, you can still participate. You will collect it from your house as you typically would, and then you will load it up into your car and drive on over to the center cutting out the middle man. The recycle center is located at: Recycle America, 602 4th St. Recycle America Why is this listed as something to do in Colorado Springs? For many residents living in Colorado Springs, there isn’t available recycle pick-ups. They aren’t as lucky as some of us to have it picked up along with our trash, so this actually is something to do. The center is fascinating too. To some people it will just look like a bunch of dumpsters labeled and filled with paper products, plastics, aluminum and glass, but to a kid or someone a little more creative, it’s an experience to see where the recycled materials go after you are done using them. It’s fun to watch the trucks come and go, the forklifts moving full dumpsters around, and the people working to sort the piles. For those of you who have recycling but are looking for a more effective way of "containing it" here is a home recycling center option that you might find helpful.
As waste management companies continue to expand recycling becomes more and more common. However, for some people the service is not available and the question becomes, what can I do if I don't want to pay the extra cost and/or the service is not available where I live?
