5 Colorado Summer Trips

With the media reporting Colorado had a record number of tourists in 2010 writing about fun places to go in Colorado seemed to be a fun post.  Whether you are a current resident in Colorado or just looking for tucked getaways here are five options.

1. Highland Haven Creekside Inn Treehouse Suite. An 850 square-foot eco-friendly romantic luxury suite built amongst the trees with custom craftsmanship and art throughout. 2. Chautauqua Cottages. Take in views of the Flatirons, Boulder’s famous peaks, on a hike through Chautauqua Park, or drive 40 minutes to Eldorado Canyon State Park for rock climbing and fly-fishing. The eco-minded city just launced a $5-a-day bike-sharing program, and you won’t want to miss a ride on the Boulder Creek Path. Commune with nature at teh Chautauqua Cottages located at the foot of the flatirons.

4. The Stanley Hotel. The Stanley Hotel, known for its architecture, magnificent setting and famous visitors, may possibly be best know today for its inspirational role in Stephen King’s novel, “The Shining”. The hotel has been featured as one of America’s most haunted hotels and with the numerous stories from visitors and staff, The Stanley Hotel continues to “shine” today, as it did in 1909 when first opened. To get the whole family in on the ghoulsih-good time, watch the Shinning with Jack Nicholson before you go or take it with and watch from your room! Now there’s a campfire story for your kid’s friends at camp.

5. Hotel Colorado. Some say the Historic Hotel Colorado is the Grand Dame of the Rockies. Others say it is like a home away from home, greeting guests with a warm welcome, time and again. Still others say, at a quick 160 miles from Denver, Colorado, it’s an easy retreat for a night or a week! Winter snows cover the mountains around this Glenwood Springs Hotel and make the Hotel Colorado’s halls a passageway for children warming up from cold, skiiers back from a powder filled day at Sunlight Mountain Resort or loving couples taking in the history written on the walls.
