Yesterday I went to a funeral, it seems as thought there have been a lot of those in the past two years. This one touched me because of some special, from the heart, moments that I wanted to pass on.
This particular friend, a woman, has two daughters and two granddaughters. Both granddaughters made gifts for everyone who attended the funeral. One made silk daffodil flower in honor of her Nana. Saying goodbye for the last time is never easy but what a special gift of love this is.

The other had taken a drawing she made for her grandparents and made book marks with the following, "May you always remember Sharon "Nana" with a giant heart. Both were incredibly touching and meaningful to come home with something that not only represented her life but also had the touch of her granddaughters and their love for their grandmother "Nana".

Another heartwarming touch involved those attending the funeral. There was a time yesterday when a special group, about 30 people, got up and lit a candle off of the candle that represented her life. When they did so, they said a word that represented her to them and most of the time expanded on what that meant. Here is one example. "Sharon represented Life to me".
"Life is no brief candle to me.
It is a sort of splendid torch
which I have got hold of for the moment,
and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible
before handing it on to future generations".
- George Bernard Shaw
With so many people losing their lives in different wa and the devastation in Japan I thought this was especially meaningful.
