I discovered when I moved to Colorado that the huge rocky mountains with their stunning snow-capped peaks did not necessarily equate to large amounts of water. With a an old jeep road meandering up a ridge line of with multiple building sites among the huge ponderosa pine, doug fir, and aspen there are plenty of options. Snow-capped mountain vistas peak show the Colorado you came looking for. In the meadow below are a series of beaver ponds with a meandering creek that flows through on the way to the lake downstream. Wildlife love it for nourishment & frolicking.
